When you apply for a job at XING, we expect you to know about the company and the benefits we offer our members. From a skills perspective, you should be confident that you match the skill set required in the given position. Depending on the role you're applying for, we may ask you to bring some samples of your work with you to your interview or to complete a task we sent you. We will of course let you know about that beforehand.

Selection process

If you've made it through to the shortlist, your first interview will be conducted on the phone and is designed to help us find out more about your skills and about you as a person. You'll also have an opportunity to ask us any questions about XING you may have. If all goes to plan during that interview, you'll be invited to attend one or two additional interviews you'll meet your future superior as well as a few future colleagues. This in turn gives you an opportunity to decide wether you think you'd fit in well at XING. If you're not from Hamburg or are even abroad, we can organize an interview via Skype so you don't have to visit the office.

However, some managers only speak English and can only assess your application if you submit it in English. We do of course point out in our job ads if you need to submit your application in English. Your cover letter should let us know why you'd like to work at XING of all places. Don't forget to include your strengths and what really stands out about you regarding the position. Your CV shouldn't just be a list of your career to date, it should also include details of your duties and responsibilities. By the way: If you've already added all of this information to your XING profile, feel free to send us a link to your XING profile rather than submitting a CV.

We really appreciate it when people apply via our careers page or by using the "Apply" button in each online job ad. This also ensures that your application will be read and handled by the right person. We're also happy to receive applications by e-mail or XING message, but being an online company we're not too keen on paper applications sent by snail mail.

Your first interview will be conducted on the phone and is designed to help us find out more about your skills and about you as a person. You'll also have an opportunity to ask us any questions about XING you may have. If all goes to plan during that interview, you'll be invited to attend an interview in person where you'll meet the recruiter, your future superior, and maybe a few potential colleagues as well. In most cases there will also be a second interview during which any open questions will be answered. If you're not from Hamburg or are even abroad, we can organize an interview via Skype so you don't have to visit the office. After an interview you'll generally hear from us within about 2 weeks.

Almost every business unit will ask you to take a Predictive Index assessment so we can find out a little bit more about you as a person. We'll send you a link to the assessment so you can complete it before attending your interview. Depending on the job group, you may also be asked to bring some samples of your work with you or to complete a task. Technical positions also often include prototyping and pair programming tasks.

What should I wear to my interview?

Most people at XING dress casually or in whatever they feel comfortable with. When attending an interview, feel free to wear what you like - we're interested in you as a person, not what you're wearing.
