13 years of XING - a success story

Founded under the name openBC in 2003, XING helps its members master the major changes taking place in the world of work. XING also helps its more than 10 million members achieve a positive work-life balance in spite of a lack of skilled workers, the shift in values and increasing levels of digitalisation. Members can use XING Jobs to find a position that suits their lifestyle or check out the various news offerings such as XING spielraum (in German) to read about the latest trends and changes in the world of work.

Company founded

Lars Hinrichs founds the Company in Hamburg and the openBC platform goes online.

2003

Initial success

The first XING groups are launched and the first official XING event held. More than 500,000 people are registered on the platform.

2004

IPO

openBC becomes XING and is the first Web 2.0 company in the world to go public.

2006

The new XING

In December 2010 XING takes over Munich-based amiando AG, Europe's leading online event management and ticketing provider. "The new XING" is launched.

2010

Social recruiting market leader

XING acquires kununu, the leading employer review platform in German-speaking countries. This acquisition allows XING to boost its position as social recruiting market leader.

2013

New products

XING launches XING Jobs and ProJobs.

2014

XING becomes a unicorn company

XING acquires Intelligence Competence Center AG and, with it, the Jobbörse.com website. With more than 2.5 million jobs, Jobbörse.com is the largest jobs search engine in German-speaking countries. XING launches its content offensive.

2015

eqipia joins XING

XING takes over "BuddyBroker AG" including their signature product "eqipia". This is a cutting-edge employee referral program which becomes the latest addition to XING's extensive e-recruitment portfolio.
