The XLP rotational product management programme is an 18-month trainee programme targeted at high-potentials which aim to fast-track their way into a digital leadership role in product management.

The 2018 traineeships start fall 2018, applications close end of May.

How is the Traineeship structured?
  • The traineeship runs for 18 months and is made up of three rotations with three different product areas.
  • In each rotation the trainee works with experienced teams on real products. This allows trainees to experience the work with different teams, on different business models, product types or stages in product lifecycles.

How does the programme run learning and mentoring? 

  • Much of the training & learning happens on-the-job in the rotations by working closely with experienced professionals (e.g. product management, user experience & design, engineering & data science).
  • This hands-on learning-by-doing is complemented with a series of seminars, classes & soft skill trainings which ensure the trainees cover all the bases.
  • On top, each trainee is matched with a Mentor from XING’s senior Management, usually a board member who will support the trainee in her/his development.

What does the ideal XLP candidate look like? 

  • There is not one stereotype we look for. We hire for potential and know this can be found in many different areas.
  • You are a recent graduate from the fields of engineering, management, science, psychology or technology or may equally come with a background in social sciences or the humanities. Either way, you are expected to have an excellent academic track record with a master’s degree or higher.
  • Irrespective of your background, you have a quantitative analytical mind-set, the ability to engage with technology, a sense of empathy with consumers, are a good communicator and have an interest in digital products and business models.
  • You have done some internships in a relevant area. We will also consider candidates with some first work experience, e.g. in start-ups, software development or management consulting.
  • By the way, our working language is English.
