Designer (m/f) for Fluent Design (Remote)

XING is the social network for business professionals with millions of members all over the world. Help us shape the future - for a better working life! We currently have an opening for a designer in a remote team setup.

Come and join XING’s User Experience team of over 40 dedicated copywriters, interaction designers, visual designers and user researchers. We work in small teams with product owners and developers to create products that deliver real value to our users. We explore new opportunities, technologies and services and continuously test and optimise our products to meet our users' needs. If you’re passionate about users and design, we’d love to hear from you.

A challenging task:

  • You’ll work in an interdisciplinary team that crafts our Windows 10 (Universal) app and our Microsoft Office Add-Ins.
  • Your team is staffed remotely across Europe; you cooperate well with team members that you do not see in person on a regular basis.
  • You‘ll develop solutions for how to integrate XING on the Windows and Office platforms in ways that deliver true benefits to our users.
  • The focus of your role will be on interaction design, but you will also be responsible for visual design within your team.
  • You’ll evaluate which new XING services are best suited to a native implementation on the Windows platform.
  • You’ll constantly monitor and improve the conversion flows that lead users from installation to active usage.
  • You’ll continuously challenge the status quo and suggest optimisations from a design and product perspective.
  • You’ll apply user-centric thinking to come up with solutions our users will love to interact with.
  • You’ll work closely with dedicated product teams, especially your UX and user insights colleagues. You enjoy working in an agile environment, and collaborating with developers in your team to deliver intuitive, functional and deliverable solutions.
  • You’ll create designs for new features and enhancements based on concepts, designs and prototypes.
  • You’ll facilitate user tests and use web analytics data to identify pain points.

A convincing background:

  • You’re able to communicate clearly and foster a strong team bond in a remote setup. Previous experience with remote collaboration is a clear plus.
  • You have a strong desire to solve complex problems and dig deep into the specifics of the Windows and Office platforms.
  • You can justify your design solutions with clear and focused logic.
  • You are intrinsically motivated when it comes to pointing out problems, but are always able and willing to offer a suggestion as to how problems can be solved.
  • You’re able to give an opinion on visuals/graphics, and have a strong understanding of technology.
  • You have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in interface/interaction/graphic design or related fields.
  • You have at least 4 years’ experience working in a UX/UI design position, ideally as a generalist with a strong focus on Interaction Design.
  • You are enthusiastic about Microsoft’s Fluent Design system and familiar with the Windows 10 platform.
  • You love working with Sketch.
  • You have an online portfolio or samples of your work you can show to demonstrate your experience.
  • You are fluent in English; German is not mandatory but a plus.

An inspiring environment

• The chance to work on a large, highly distributed platform with over 14 million users.
• Varied tasks, uncomplicated interactions with your colleagues as well as many opportunities to bring in your own ideas await you.
• Innovation/hack weeks every few months where you can unleash your creativity and ideas.
• Real training and conferences.
• A multicultural environment with employees from all over the world.
• Free fruit, drinks, snacks and much more.
• A mobile device for your private use (iPhone, iPad, Android…).
• Competitive salary.
