For a better working life

For a better working life

(Junior) Manager (m/f) Data Scientist / Business Analyst

XING is the social network for business professionals with millions of members all over the world. Help us shape the future – for a better working life! We currently have an opening at our headquarters in Hamburg.

XING works towards “a better working life”. One key element of this mission is XING’s job marketplace (xing.com/jobs) that helps our users in exploring their next career steps. We – a team of Business Analysts, Designers, Software Engineers and Data Scientists – try to turn this marketplace into a data-driven product that supports our more than 12 Million DACH users in finding relevant jobs (e.g. via search or recommendations). Therefore, we work with the latest technologies in a highly international environment and bring state-of-the-art research into production. If you want to get things done rather than sit in meetings, like helping others and learning from them, you will have fun in our team!

A challenging task

  • Solve challenging problems related to recommender systems, search and machine learning
  • Perform analyses on massive amounts of data and help designing a data-driven jobs marketplace
  • Implement and enhance algorithms and services using technologies such as Scala, Elasticsearch, and Hadoop technologies (e.g. Hive, MapReduce)

A convincing background

  • Solid programming skills in Scala
  • Degree in Computer Science, Math or similar discipline
  • Hands-on experience in exploring large datasets (e.g. with SQL, Hive, etc.)
  • Experience in building scalable software that processes large datasets (ideally, some experience with recommender systems or search)
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge about information retrieval or machine learning
  • Proficient English language skills (German is not required)

An inspiring environment

XING offers a dynamic environment located in the centre of Hamburg. As well as flexible working hours, you’ll have an opportunity to unleash your skills and acquire new ones. We offer a wide range of training courses in addition to German, English and Spanish lessons, regular team and offsite events, and lots of fun. We also provide free drinks and organic fruit as well as a Proficard public transport ticket, restaurant vouchers and travel insurance. And let’s not forget the smartphone or iPad that you can use privately. You’ll also be provided with a high-end Macbook Pro, and our offices have table football tables. If you’re feeling really sporty, we also have great gym deals, and various other benefits….

If this profile matches your expertise, experience and aspirations, we’d be delighted to receive your full application, including salary requirements and possible starting date.

We're an Open Source contributor (https://github.com/xing) and let the world know what we're doing (https://medium.com/xing-engineering) while also organising public user groups and coding events.
