System Engineer Linux (m/f)

XING is the social network for business professionals with millions of members all over the world. Help us shape the future – for a better working life! We currently have an opening at our headquarters in Hamburg.  

The Site Operations team is responsible for ensuring 24/7 operation of the XING platform. We support XING’s physical and virtual servers. We manage the back-up and storage systems, databases and the data centre’s entire network. The team consists of arounde 15 people, who work on our databases, hosting services and network. We use Chef to manage our infrastructure and are great fans of automation and monitoring. We mainly use Ubuntu Linux as our operating system, MySQL for our databases and Ruby on Rails and Perl for our applications.

A challenging task

  • In this System Engineer (m/f)  role you will work with our Linux System Administrator Team to draft and establish complex Linux infrastructures
    Running of Kubernetes and Mesos Clusters
  • You support and work closely with colleagues from Software Development and – Architecture
  • You upgrade and automate our live system through configmanagement and continous integration
  • Troubleshooting of applications and infrastructure

A convincing background

  • Experience in config management systems like Chef, Puppet or others
  • Knowledge of virtualisations- and container technologies (VMware, Docker)
  • Previous experience in establishing continuous integration and deployment processes
  • Good experience in scripting, ideally in Ruby
  • Solid English skills, German is a plus
  • First experience with OpenStack Swift is a plus as well
